County Courts & Claims:

Admitting the Claim

If you admit liability for the claim (agree that you owe the money) then you should complete the form and return it to the court within 14 days.

NOTE: Keep a copy for your records and bring it with you to the hearing.

On the form you will make an offer of payment. Make a realistic offer of payment one that you can afford.

Post the form to the address shown on the 'Acknowledgement of Service'. The court will then send your offer of payment to the claimant and ask if your offer of payment is acceptable.

If the claimant accepts your offer he will ask the court to 'enter judgment', you will be sent an ‘Acceptance of Offer’ this will give details of how much to pay and when.

They will normally enter judgment before the date of the hearing. You will be sent a copy of the judgment and need not come to the hearing. If you do not hear from the court it is in your interests to attend the hearing.
